After quite a wait, I picked my custom trailer for the Hobie Tandem Island. It’s galvanised, and has a couple of useful features:
It has a removable rack, for carrying another kayak or two, or a gear box etc. It also has retractable draw bar and rear bar, so that it can be converted into a flat-top or box trailer.
Drove the 4 hours to Maclean Outdoors to get my Tandem Island – exactly 4 months after ordering it! Josh ‘Yakass’ Holmes (www.yakass.net) had me sorted out before long, and I headed home with my new baby
.
Note that the trailer still requires a support for the bow. The stern is already supported by the roller.
Plans for the trailer can be viewed here.
